报告人简介:

Lihai Zhang is a Professor of Infrastructure Protection & Managementand the Leader of Engineering Management Discipline in the Department ofInfrastructure Engineering at The University of Melbourne. He is best known forhis expertise in numerical modelling of fluid flow, mass transfer, and reactivetransport in deformed porous media as well as engineering reliability analysis.

Prof Zhang received his Bachelor of Engineering from the South ChinaUniversity of Technology in 1991 and Master of Engineering degree from theNational University of Singapore in 1995. Following a successful ten-yearcareer in industry, he obtained his PhD from the University of Melbourne in2009. His research work focuses primarily on reliability-based life-cycleassessment of built infrastructure encompassing building cladding subjected tohailstorm impact, corrosion of construction materials, and structural healthmonitoring using advanced non-destructive testing techniques.

Prof Zhang has published twobooks, 14 book chapters, two special issues as the Chief Guest Editor, and over240 SCI journal articles. He has been awarded more than 30 national andinternational competitive grants and research contracts, with over 90% beingindustry-related (Lead CI in 20 of them). He was awarded the InternationalComputational Award, and the Outstanding Engineering Reliability Award atleading international conferences. Currently, Prof Zhang is an Editorial BoardMember of Engineering Structures and the International Journal of AppliedMechanics. He is also a Fellow and Chartered Professional Engineer of EngineersAustralia. Prof Zhang has successfully supervised around 30 PhD students tocompletion.

张教授于1991年获得华南理工大学的工学学士学位,并于1995年获得新加坡国立大学的工学硕士学位。在从事十年工程工作后,他于2009年在墨尔本大学获得博士学位。他的研究工作主要集中在基于可靠性的基础设施生命周期评估,包括遭受冰雹冲击的建筑覆层、建筑材料的腐蚀以及利用先进的无损检测技术进行结构健康监测。

张教授已出版了两本书,撰写了14个书章节,担任过两期特邀主编,并发表了超过240篇SCI期刊文章。他获得了30多项国家和国际竞争性研究资助和合同,其中90%以上与行业相关(其中20项他为首席研究员)。他曾在国际领先会议上获得国际计算奖和杰出工程可靠性奖。目前,张教授是《Engineering Structures》和《International Journal ofApplied Mechanics》的编委会成员。他还是澳大利亚工程师学会的成员和注册专业工程师。张教授成功指导了约30名博士生顺利毕业。

 

报告内容:

Life-cycle asset protectionand management represents a crucial, interconnected component in thedecision-making process for sustainable infrastructure. Developing sustainableinfrastructure entails not only the construction of new projects but also theprotection and rehabilitation of existing structures. This presentationhighlights our latest progress in both fundamental and applied research onfluid dynamics, heat transfer, and mass exchange in porous media, as well astheir applications in safeguarding infrastructure, such as enhancing thecorrosion and fire resistance of construction materials. The development ofinventive protection strategies, including bioinspired materials, is alsodiscussed Furthermore, this presentation also showcases our recent advancementsin structural health monitoring for transportation infrastructure throughcutting-edge non-destructive testing techniques like infrared thermography,interferometric radar, and unmanned vehicles. As we witness massive shifts inthe maintenance of assets for the future, these changes call for an array ofinnovative research and engineering efforts.
