报告人简介:
Prof Cheng got his BE from Tsinghua University in 1983 and PhD from Dalian University of Technology, China in 1990. He joined The University of Western Australia (UWA) in 1992 as a Research Associate and has been a Winthrop Professor in Civil Engineering since 2006. Prof Cheng served as Head of School of Civil and Resource Engineering at UWA from 2009 to 2012. Prof Cheng’s research areas cover vortex-induced vibrations of offshore structures, sediment transports, flow/structure/seabed interactions and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling of various industrial flows. Prof Cheng has published widely (more than 200 publications) in his career and was identified as one of High Citation Researchers by Thompson Reuters 2013. Prof Cheng has also been working closely with oil and gas industry on consulting and contract research projects and has been recognized with a number of government and industrial awards in Australia for his research contributions to offshore oil and gas industry.
报告摘要:
Conventional pipeline design assesses hydrodynamic stability of offshore pipelines without taking into account sediment transport occurring around the pipeline and wave orbital velocity reduction in the boundary layer. This could lead to either over-conservative or unsafe designs. This talk will present the on-going research efforts that address these issues at The University of Western Australia.
