报告摘要:
The construction industry has been criticized for its low productivity for decades. In recent years, the building information modeling (BIM) technology has been increasingly used in construction projects and resulted in reduced error, enhanced communication, and improved safety and productivity. BIM also enables construction automation and integration of different technologies, which make construction smarter and more efficient. In addition, integrated with geographical information system (GIS) technology, BIM can be used for construction supply chain management and even for smart city planning and execution. In this seminar, Dr. Cheng will present the concepts of smart construction and smart city. He will also show some examples of applying BIM and GIS technologies for smart construction and smart city. Research opportunities and challenges will be discussed at the end.
