Academic Committee Work Regulation


Composed of famous experts and scholars athome and abroad, academic committee is responsible for the laboratory researchdirections and the research plan, reviews the laboratory research progressregularly and scientific research achievements.

1. Academic committee plays a key role in thelab construction, and its missions contain checking lab target, planning researchdirection and long term development, reviewing important academic activities andannual work, and approving the open fund and so on.

2.Academic committee is composed of famous experts and scholars at home andabroad, who are in field of relevant research area of the lab. The members canguide the lab work effectively in different academic point of view.

3.Academic committee is composed by 14 experts and scholars, including 1committee director, 3 committee deputy directors. Committee members are electedfor a term of 5 years, generally not more than seventy years old, each transitionshould be replaced one-third or more of the members.

4. The committee director is recommended bythe lab and submitted to the Ministry of Education for approval. The membersare appointed by SCUT and submitted record to the Ministry of Education. The numberof members from SCUT should not more than a third of the total.

5. The lab will organize the academiccommittee members’ transition work.

6. For work requirements, the lab can adjustthe academic committee through submitting the committee director and SCUT to forapproval.

7. The responsibilities:

(1) Hold the research direction, layout,product development;

(2) Check the lab main academic activitiesand give suggestions;

(3) Guide the important experiment andresearch program, to set and adjust the plan;

(4) Review the application of the open fund;

(5) Review the lab research progress andachievements, and hold a meeting for significant achievement;

(6) Review the annual work report of the lab director;

(7) Pay attention academic talents,especially young and middle-aged academic talents;

(8) Through a variety of forms to support thelab research work, such as exchange of research personnel, lectures, short-termwork;

(9) Use a variety of communication methods tokeep close connection with the lab usually.

8. Working mode:

(1) Hold the plenary session 1 time each yearto determine and modify the laboratory research target, reset academic membersworking plan and division, and make meeting minutes;

(2)Review open fund project 1 time per year;

(3) If necessarily, the committee director cancall a meeting temporarily.

9. When academic committee needs to form aresolution, it is valid on the basis of the resolution by more than two-thirdsof the total academic committee member voting in agreement through fullydiscussion in democracy.

10. When the lab needs to make of major decisions inacademic aspects, the academic committee should give advance.

11. The lab should provide convenience and createconditions for the work of the academic committee by a variety of ways.

12. Academic committee members should activelyparticipate in the activities of the academic committee to support the lab work.The member who doesn’t joined in the academic activities to play his role inthe lab with different excuses, will be discharge his academic committeemembership with the approval of SCUT and the lab committee director.
