Professor Jinglu Tan
Jinglu Tan is a James C. Dowell Professor and chair of the Bioengineering Department at the University of Missouri. He also is director of the Division of Food Systems and Bioengineering. His current research involves modeling of phototransduction in photosynthesis and vision systems, ion transport, delayed fluorescence and ultrasound transmission in biological tissues. Tan’s past research involved thermo-fluid system modeling, vacuum system control, predictive control, food process modeling and control, computer vision applications in food quality evaluation and fuzzy logic and neural network applications in sensory analysis. He holds five U.S. patents. He has been a consultant to major companies on real-world process control and automation problems. Tan is an elected fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, and he serves as editor in chief for the Journal of Food Measurement & Characterization.
