1981

The instruction and research section in enterprise management was founded, and the Department of Management Engineering (DME) was in preparation.

1982

DME was founded and started to provide training programs for government officials (associate degree).

1983

DME kicked off the bachelor’s degree program in management engineering.

1984

DME was authorized to run the master’s degree program in management science and engineering and began the enrollment.

1986

The instruction and research section in industrial economy, under the Department of Social Science, began to recruit master’s degree candidates in industrial economy.

1992

School of Business Administration (SBA) was founded on the bases of DME and the instruction and research section for industrial economy at the Department of Social Science.

1993

SBA kicked off its MBA program as one of the second batch of authorized schools in China.

1997

The Shantou Alumni Building donated by alumni in Shantou was put into use.

1998

SBA was authorized to run doctoral degree program in the state Level I Discipline of management science and engineering.

2000

The instruction and research section in accounting at the Department of Mathematics was incorporated into SBA as the Department of Accounting.

2002

SBA kicked off its EMBA program as one of the first authorized schools in China.

SBA was authorized to launch its Master of Engineering (ME) program in industrial engineering.

SBA was authorized to run its doctoral degree program in the state Level II Discipline of enterprise management.

SBA completed the renovation project of the Building No.12 (previously a building of law school) allocated by SCUT.

The SBA Alumni Association was founded and held the first council meeting.

2004

SBA was authorized to kick off ME programs in project management and logistics.

The SBA Senior Executive Training Center was established on the basis of the existing training center.

The SBA’s discipline of management science and engineering was rated as a provincial key discipline by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education.

2005

SBA was chosen as a state-level Innovation Research Base for New Form of Industrialization as part of the philosophy and social science innovation platform of the “985” project launched by the Ministry of Education.

2007

The renovation projects of the Building No.22 and the Shantou Alumni Building were completed and put into use.

The SBA’s discipline of enterprise management was rated as a provincial key discipline by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education.

2009

The Comprehensive Experimental Teaching Center in Liberal Arts, which was founded by the SBA and other 6 schools, was rated as the national experimental teaching demonstration by the Ministry of Education.

The 2^nd Council of the SBA Alumni Association was founded.

2010

With the SBA teaching experiment platform as mainstay, the Experimental Teaching Center for Economics and Management was rated as the national experimental teaching demonstration by the Ministry of Education.

SBA was authorized to run doctoral degree program in the state Level I Discipline of business management.

SBA was authorized to offer the Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc) program and the Master of Valuation (MV) program.

2011

The School of Entrepreneurship Education was founded on the base of SBA.

2012

SBA was authorized to establish the Key Laboratory of Innovation Method and Decision Management System of Guangdong Province.

The MBA and EMBA programs were awarded with the AMBA accreditation.

2013

The 3^rd Council of the SBA Alumni Association was founded.

2015

The MBA and EMBA programs were re-accredited by AMBA.

SCUT (School of Entrepreneurship Education) was selected as one of the first batch of demonstration institutes offering entrepreneurship education to college students in Guangdong Province.

2016

Doctoral degree programs in Management Science and Engineering and Business Administration passed the evaluation on degree conferral authorization with a result classified as “excellent”.

2017

In the 4th round of the China University Subject Rankings, SBA’s subject of Management Science and Engineering entered the 1st tier group with grade A- (top 5%-10%) and ranking 10th; the subject of Business Administration was evaluated as B+ (top 10%-20%) and ranked 25th.

2018

MBA program ranked A- (top 7%-15%) in the first edition of China University Professional-degree Rankings launched by the National Education Inspection Commission Office of the State Council and the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center of MOE.

SBA attained AACSB accreditation.
