Overseas Distinguished Teachers Course Project Student Recruitment
The C-Lab will organize a two-week course/workshop with the theme of Experience Design Practice and Future. It hosted by Mr. Matthew Stuart Beale (U.S.A), Adjunct Professor, Carnegie Mellon University; President of Daedalus, and supported by International Office and Graduate School of SCUT.
The course/workshop will be conducted on each afternoon from October 4th to October 16th 2014, and in English only.
The course/workshop is composed of 20 graduate students with various backgrounds, mainly on communication design and fashion design. Besides of the students mentioned above, 12 graduate students who majored in industrial design, interactive design, and product design will be extra selected from our school to participate the interdisciplinary team in the course. In addition, the grade students in year one and year two will be given priority.

Expert introduction
Matthew Stuart Beale
President of Daedalus, a research, design, and engineering firm in Pittsburgh, USA, Matt has contributed to the creation of dozens of award-winning products and patented innovations. He has worked as a facilitator, researcher, project manager, and industrial designer. Although his work has ranged from consumer products to transportation, Matt’s deepest expertise is in healthcare and safety products.
An instructor at Carnegie Mellon University, Matt has been teaching courses that draw on his experience in design thinking, product development, and research. At Carnegie Mellon he originated, with co-instructor, John McKluskey, the semantic tool project, which has become a standard component of the undergraduate curriculum. He is also a regular lecturer on innovation and design thinking at the Katz Business School of the University of Pittsburgh.
An entrepreneur, Matt has started new businesses and lines of business, including projectEYE, a pioneering online collaborative team space launched in the late 1990s.
