美国德克萨斯大学阿灵顿分校刘平教授:Nanocomposite Permanent Magnets: What’s Next?

报告摘要:
       The emergent large-scale applications of permanent magnets in electric vehicles and wind turbines require high performance magnets without containing heavy rare earths. To design and develop new types of permanent magnets has become extremely important. After research for more than two decades, nanoscale hard magnetic materials, especially exchange-coupled nanocomposite magnets, have shown high opportunities for development of future generations of permanent magnets. Encouraging experimental results obtained from nanocomposite thin films have demonstrated the great potential in energy product enhancement. We will review recent developments in the research in nanostructured permanent magnets with emphasis on bottom-up approaches to fabrication of the hard/soft nanocomposite bulk magnets. Synthesis techniques for hard and hard/soft magnetic nanoparticles will be discussed. Processing of bulk nanocomposite magnets via severe plastic deformation and warm compaction will be presented. Novel approaches based on nanowire application also show a promise for future generation of fully dense or bonded permanent magnets.

 

附报告人简介:
       刘平教授,博士,美国物理学会会士(fellow)(2013年),从事磁性材料研究工作30多年。1994年4月获荷兰Amsterdam大学物理学博士学位;先后任美国Louisiana Tech University和 University of Texas at Arlington教授。他领导的团队开拓了自下而上(bottom-up approach)制备新型纳米复合永磁材料的技术路线,在国际上首次采用盐浴退火和表面活性剂辅助高能球磨技术制备纳米颗粒并在此基础上合成块状纳米晶复合永磁材料,发现并研究了强塑性变形导致的复合材料的纳米化机理。在基础研究方面澄清了软磁性相和界面对磁性交换耦合的影响,提出了梯度界面纳米复合材料的概念。在Nature等国际刊物发表科研论文200余篇(他引5000多次,H指数超过31)、在国际学术会议上发表结果80多次、在世界各地作邀请报告120多次。
