In the context of the national strategy of building the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the School of Business Administration of South China University of Technology and the Faculty of Business of Lingnan University jointly established the SCUT-LU Management and Decision Science Research Center.
The center is expected to provide effective support in system management and business decision-making in the process of accelerating the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, increase the core competitiveness of emerging industries and manufacturing industries, provide support to the development of advanced manufacturing and modern service industries, and help drive the rapid development of commerce and economy in Guangdong and Hong Kong, for the purpose of building a competitive and prosperous region. At the same time, the establishment of the research center is conducive to strengthening the integration and synergetic innovation of scientific research resources of the two universities, carrying out multidisciplinary and collaborative research projects, and enhancing the ability to undertake national projects. It is a new model for the two universities to actively explore collaborative innovation and cooperation.
The short-term goal of the research center is to establish an open research system oriented to society and market, and jointly build a collaborative innovation research platform; the long-term objectives include opening up the frontier research field of management and decision-making science, forming characteristic advantages in the field in a long-term, and forming a mechanism for joint training of talents. The research center focused on the following research interests:
1. Strengthen the basic and applied research of management and decision-making science, form a new growing point of the discipline, and focus on shaping the construction of innovation base.
2. Integrate the advantages of multiple disciplines and improve the integration ability of interdisciplinary research.
3. Take management and decision-making science as the main research direction, and establish an open and innovative platform at the cross-school level.
4. Allocate scientific research resources according to the needs of social industries and regional development goals, and strengthen the combination of production, education and research and the promotion and transformation of research achievements.
5. Expand research cooperation between the two universities and promote exchanges.
