As a branch of Alumni Association South China University of Technology, the Alumni Association of the School of Business Administration is founded to facilitate alumni’s growth through service and support. It is committed to setting up a closer tie between the School and the alumni and paying close attention to their growth. Apart from that, it creates study and exchange platforms for alumni, which provides added value service to them and fosters interactive development between the School and the alumni.
Since the establishment of the SBA Alumni Association, SBA alumni have been giving enthusiastic support to and actively participating in its activities. They successively assisted in establishing the Association’s branches, including the Dongguan Chapter, the Foshan Chapter for MBA/EMBA, the EMBA Federation, the MBA Federation, the EDP Alumni Association, and the Shenzhen Chapter for EMBA, and so on.
Attentive to the development of their alma mater, the SBA alumni have made gifts including funds and goods to the University and the School in various forms. For example, alumnus Zhou Yifeng donated to the university a Fou, a percussion instrument made of clay, once played at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games opening ceremony, and alumnus Mo Daoming made a 65 million RMB yuan donation for the development of the University. With alumni’s contribution, we have established McWalts Excellent Achievement Prize for Scientific Research, McWalts Student Stipend, Vidafone Scholarship, Shenzhen Baoneng Scholarship, McWaltz Student International Exchange Fund, Chunhua Young Teacher Award, Science and Technology Innovation Scholarship Fund, Taito Microelectronic Scholarships, Love Fund of the EMBA Federation, EDP Alumni Association Fund, Enterprise Investigation Fund for Full-time Students, etc. The total amount has reached more than 12 million RMB yuan.
The SBA Alumni Association always regards serving the alumni as its purpose. Each year, the Association holds job fairs of alumni enterprises, organizes Homecoming and sports events among alumni, visits alumni from all over the country, and arranges current students to visit alumni companies.
To strengthen the constant connection among alumni, the SBA Alumni Association runs an alumni work website and a WeChat account, and publishes the alumni newsletter, the “Sundial” every year. An alumni liaison scheme was also established to link closely the Schools with its graduates.
