Third-party Assessment Think Tank for Implementation Effects of Major Science and Technology Project and Platform (hereinafter referred to as “the Think Tank”) was established in 2003 as the only research team contributed to the long-term research activities and innovation management study. The research team consists of 11 professors (two Zhujiang Distinguished Chair Professor, and one National Distinguished Young Scholar), seven associate professors, two lecturers, and eight PhD candidates. As for the research team, 73.3% of the members has engaged in national level research projects as the principle investigator, and 66.7% of them has overseas education background and exchanges experience. After decades of development, the research team’s research project titled in “Guangdong's Innovation-driven Development during its Transition Period: Strategy and Path” has obtained the support of Guangdong Provincial Nature Science Foundation, and was granted the Third-party Assessment Think Tank for Implementation Effects of Major Science and Technology Project and Platform.
Relying on the research platform of “Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory for Innovative Methodology & Decision-making Management System”, the research team of the Think Tank is rooted in Guangdong innovation practices, taking Guangdong independent innovation practice as research orientation, and focusing on research in the fields of cooperative innovation, innovation and regional development, and innovation policy. In recent years, its team members have obtained more than 40 national, ministerial and provincial projects in related fields. Their research results have been published in more than 60 domestic and international top journals of innovation management research, and have formed research features and influential outcomes in the field of regional innovation systems, collaborative innovation of industry, university and research institutes.
In particular, the research team's key project of philosophy and social science research conducted by the Ministry of Education, The Theory, Mechanism and Policy Research of Collaborative Innovation and the Key Project of National Natural Science Foundation titled in My Domestic Research Cooperation Theory and Policy Research are the top projects in the field of collaboration innovation in national wide (the results are all excellent).In recent years, the team takes the innovation-driven development practice in the transition period of Guangdong as the research object, and it is dedicated to study on the capacity structure and evolution needed to implement the innovation-driven development strategy in Guangdong Province, the synergy and efficiency of the main elements of Guangdong innovation system, Guangdong industrial chain, innovation chain and financial chain, coupling and evolution, Guangdong's service-oriented manufacturing strategy and path, and innovation on environmental sustainability. It is expected that its research results shall provide theoretical guidance for Guangdong's innovation-driven development practice, and also provide positive experiences for other provinces and cities to conduct innovation development.
