Focusing on the application of new materials for road traffic, Professor Niu Yanhui of Chang'an University held an academic lecture
time: 2024-03-22

On March 21, Niu Yanhui, a distinguished professor and doctoral supervisor of Chang'an University, visited the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation of South China University of Technology, and gave an academic lecture entitled Research and Application of Materials in Transportation Infrastructure - Taking Coating and 3D Printing as an Example for teachers and students.

Lecture Venue

With the development of China's transportation infrastructure, new infrastructure has put forward a demand for functional, intelligent and sustainable development. In the lecture, Professor Niu Yanhui took theoretical innovation-technical research-industrial application as a clue, and used humorous language to tell teachers and students about the high combination of material innovation and intelligent construction and maintenance methods to improve the self-perception, self-repair, self-adaptation and self-energy supply ability of infrastructure. Carrying out research and development in cross-cutting fields such as key core materials, cutting-edge technologies and transportation integration will provide a strong guarantee for accelerating the construction of a safe, efficient, green and economical modern comprehensive transportation system.

Lecture by Professor Niu Yanhui

Professor Niu Yanhui explained from three aspects: self-cleaning lining materials, pavement crack repair using 3D printing technology and 4D printing intelligent building skin. In terms of self-cleaning lining materials, Professor Niu introduced the degradation rate of NO in different humidity environments in the laboratory, the durability and NO degradation test in outdoor application cases from the preparation and easy washing of super-diphobic coatings. In 3D printing technology for pavement crack repair, Professor Niu showed the preparation process of self-made and rubber powder modified sealant of 3D printer, and introduced the working performance of sealant and the effectiveness of indoor and outdoor crack repair under the influence of different temperatures, printing speeds, filling rates and other factors. In terms of 4D printing intelligent building skin, Professor Niu introduced the research frontier of self-sensing and self-adjusting temperature adaptation of building materials by comparing the deformation differences of temperature-sensitive deformed materials under different lighting conditions.

The lecture aroused extensive thinking among the teachers and students present, and the participating students had a thorough discussion with Professor Niu Yanhui from the aspects of research ideas, experimental methods, and career planning.
