About the Speaker: Prof. Zhiqiang Hu, Head of Marine, Offshore and Subsea Technology Group, Newcastle University. He is deputy editor of journal Ocean Engineering, Member of International Ship Structures Congress (ISSC) V.6 Ocean Space Utilization, Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architecture (RINA). Main research field includes: Offshore Renewable Energy (Offshore Wind Turbine), Dynamic Responses of Ship and Offshore Structures, Collision and Grounding of Ships and Offshore Structures.

Abstract of the Report: Offshore wind power is the best commercial development mode of the ocean renewable energy currently, and floating wind turbine is one of the main trends in the future. This report firstly introduces the development and utilization and the faced challenges of the offshore wind power in the UK. Secondly, the dynamic performance forecasting technology of the floating wind turbine is introduced, including the high order nonlinear coupling dynamic performance analysis method and DARwind calculation program. Finally, the model test of dynamic performance of the floating wind turbine and the application research of artificial intelligence technology are introduced.
