Recently, The Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM) announced the list of winners of the  Xu Zhilun Outstanding Teachers Award of CSTAM in 2021, which was won by Professor Liu Yiping from School of Civil Engineering and Transportation.

The Xu Zhilun Outstanding Teachers Award was established by CSTAM in 2005 and voted every two years to honor teachers who have made outstanding achievements in teaching reform, teaching and educating, and scientific research. In 2021, a total of 88 winners were selected nationwide, and only 4 teachers in Guangdong Province won this honor.

Liu Yiping is now a professor and doctoral supervisor. He is also a member of the committee of experimental mechanics of CSTAM, the secretary general of the strategic planning committee of experimental mechanics of CSTAM, and the vice chairman of the Guangdong society of mechanics. Professor Liu Yiping has been dedicated to teaching Theoretical Mechanics, Material Mechanics, Engineering Mechanics, Structural Mechanics and Damage Mechanics since he began to work in 1998. His teaching style is novel and diverse, and are highly praised by students and other teachers. He has won the first prize of the First Undergraduate Classroom Teaching Competition for Young Teachers of South China University of technology, the Excellent Teaching Award of the University, the advanced individual of Three Educations and the honor of Excellent Communist Party member. At the same time, Professor Liu Yiping has made outstanding scientific research achievements, presided over 3 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and more than 20 other scientific research projects, won the second prize of Scientific and Technological Progress of Guangdong Province in 2020, published more than 60 SCI and EI index papers.
