Dr Wu worked in the postdoctorate station of Harbin Institute of Architectural Engineering between 1993 and 1995, and worked on teaching and research in the former Harbin Institute of Architectural Engineering between 1995 and 2000. After that, he worked on teaching and research in South China University of Technology. He mainly works on theory and engineering application of structure disaster-resistance and new structures. He published over 200 papers and was awarded 6 first prizes or second prizes of provincial and ministry level research accomplishments.
