报告人简介：

Prof. Sobolev obtained his bachelor and Ph.D degree in Moscow State Civil Engineering University and Research Institute of Concrete and Reinforced Concrete (Russia), respectively. Now he is the department chair of Civil & Environmental Engineering, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His main research interest is high-performance cement based composites, application of nanomaterials in construction and waste utilization. Prof. Sobolev has contributed to a total of 177 publications; these include 81 refereed journal papers¸ 14 books and book chapters, as well as 82 articles in conference proceedings. He has been a member of Mexican Academy of Sciences since 2007.

报告摘要：

Nanotechnology has changed and will continue to change our vision, expectations, and abilities to control the material world. These developments will greatly affect construction and the field of construction materials. This seminar reviews the state of the field of nanotechnology of construction materials. The impact of recent advances in instrumentation and design of advanced composite materials will be discussed. Main directions, historical milestones and recent progress in nano engineering and nano modification of cement-based materials will be presented.
