个人简介:Jun Ma received his PhD in 2002 from Institute of Chemistry, the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He then conducted research as a visiting scholar and postdoc fellow at the Centre for Advanced Materials Technology, The University of Sydney. In 2007 Jun joined the University of South Australia as a lecturer and he is now an Associate Professor. His research focuses on the development of applied functional composites through processing polymers with a range of nanomaterials, aiming to engage with industry in the design, development, and manufacturing of advanced polymeric composite materials. He has published over 100 journal papers, with a Google H-index of 45.

报告内容:In contrast with an old saying — Publish or perish, nowadays we are requested to publish with impact. Papers published in high-impact factor journals appear to be a prerequisite when a graduate applies for an academic job; competitive grants often favour highly cited researchers; the citation of papers also contributes to 30­-40% of world university ranking. In this seminar, Jun will share his experience and lessons of academic and industrial research accumulated over the past years.
