报告人简介:
Professor Holmbom is world-top scientist in the field of Pulp, Paper and Forest Chemistry and technology. He has been working in Åbo Akademi University as Full-Professor since 1985. Formerly he has been working as visiting Professor in North Carolina State University (USA) and Pulp and Paper Research Institute of Canada. Professor Holmbom has been also holding the position as Director of National Graduate School, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Åbo Akademi University.
Professor Holmbom has over 40 years experiences in research, development and education related to pulp, paper, forest, biomass and their based materials. He has contributed to more than 270 peer-reviewed papers, 32 book chapters and holds 13 international patents. He has served on the committees/chairman/Scientific council of Vasa Ship Preservation Council, Governing Board of the European Polysaccharide Network of Excellence (EPNOE), The National Research Council of Environment and Natural Resources, Finnish Chemical Industries Federation, Chemistry of Vegetal Resources (COCVER), Toxicology and Health Effects, and so on. He is also honorary membership of the Finnish Academy of Sciences and Letters , Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters, The International Academy of Wood Science, "Svenska Tekniska Vetenskapsakademien i Finland" and Finnish Academy of Technical Sciences.
For his contributions in the field of pulp and papermaking, biomass and so on, he has been awarded many world-class and civil honors. Some special awards include but not limited to the following as “Paper Industry International Hall of Fame, Inductee 2015”, “The Marcus Wallenberg Prize 2008”, “The Honorary Lampén Medal from the Finnish Paper Engineers´ Association 2006”, “The 2005 Finnish Science Award, by the Ministry of Education” and so on.
