内容简介：

Kraft pulp is the dominant chemical pulp in the world due to its quality and well-accepted technology. To produce a white leached kraft pulp, hemicelluloses are mostly removed along with lignin. The development of woody biomass for renewable energy and chemicals has generated interests in turning the hemicellulose into valuable products. Pretreatment of woodchips with hot-water prior to kraft pulping can render a side stream of hemicelluloses for other applications. In this presentation, Eucalyptus woodchips are used to examine the possibility. The effect of hot-water pretreatment on kraft pulping process and pulp quality are examined.
