　　Marie-Noëlle Pons (born on December 15, 1955) got in 1977 an Chemical Engineering degree from Ecole Nation-ale Supérieure des Industries Chimiques at the Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine （ Nancy, France ）, in 1978 a MSc. degree  in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University (1978), in 1980 an Engineering Doct-orate in Chemical Engineering in 1980 and in 1984 a PhD in Physical Sciences (both from the Institut National Pol-ytechnique de Lorraine, Nancy France). She has been affiliated with the Laboratory of Chemical Engineering Sci-ences (now Laboratory Reactions and Process Engineering) of CNRS in Nancy, France since 1980. She has been CNRS Research Professor since 1996. Her research interests are directed toward problems of metrology for env-ironment (sensors and sensing techniques development and assessment), modelling and control of biological and environmental systems (urban and industrial wastewater treatment, urban and periurban water courses) and life c-ycle assessment applied to processes (wastewater treatment, soil remediation, production of hydrogen, petroleum industries).
