The FinTech major aims to cultivate threeinnovative (innovation, creation, and entrepreneurship) financialtechnology professionals with good comprehensive quality, including outstandingthree abilities (learning ability, thinking ability, and actionability) and lifelong learning ability, comprehensive development in morality,intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor, combining a strong senseof patriotism and a global perspective, possessing a solid foundation ineconomic and financial theory and computer science, familiarity with financialtechnology theory, policies, and practices, understanding the characteristicsof new technologies and new financial models, and being competent in professionalwork in financial technology fields, and with the ability to lead thedevelopment of the financial industry.
Program Profile：
The Fintech major originated from the HSBCFinancial Technology Elite Class established in cooperation with HSBCTechnology China in 2018, the CCB Financial Technology Elite Classestablished in cooperation with China Construction Bank in 2019, and theFinance + Computer Science dual degree class established in 2021.Years of interdisciplinary and school enterprise integration talent cultivationpractice have laid a solid foundation for the talent cultivation of theFinancial Technology major. The Financial Technology major relies on thegeographical advantages of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area andthe science and engineering advantages of the school, continuouslystrengthening interdisciplinary integration with the School of Computer Scienceand Engineering, the School of Software, and the School of Future Technology,as well as deep cooperation with well-known financial institutions andtechnology enterprises such as HSBC Technology China and China ConstructionBank. It is committed to cultivating compound financial technologyprofessionals with solid financial theory, familiarity with financial practice,and mastery of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data,blockchain, and cloud computing. Graduates majoring in financial technologyhave good comprehensive quality and strong innovation ability. Nearly 50% ofthem go to well-known universities at home and abroad, such as PekingUniversity, Tsinghua University, Carnegie Mellon University, ColumbiaUniversity, to continue their studies. Most of them work in internationallyrenowned enterprises and financial institutions such as Huawei, ByteDance,Alibaba, Microsoft, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and ChinaConstruction Bank, or engage in economic management and policy research ingovernment departments.
