Professor Yan Liu, from The University of Queensland, gave series of lectures on Tourism Research Methodology to SEC graduates of Grade 2017 majoring in tourism and hospitality management.
Professor Yan Liu focused on the research field of teaching methodology of higher education, the application of space information system on the cultural, economic and natural environment and the collection and application of big data based on the space information system. She hosted and participated in national level scientific research projects in China, Singapore and Australia. Besides, she also published dozens of academic papers in international authoritative academic journals.
During the lectures, Professor Yan Liu explained the application of Geographic Information System on the planning and research of tourism vividly and instructed students how to operate the QGIS software and how to select a research topic and write an academic paper. She answered students’ questions patiently. In her spare time, she also made an academic exchange with faculty and staff in the department of tourism and hospitality management and proposed useful suggestions on the 2+2 program between UQ and SCUT in the field of tourism.
