Supported and sponsored by Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs of China Ministry of Education, and Taiwan Affairs Office of People’s Government of Guangdong Province, 2017 the 4th Ling Nan Culture Camp was held in SCUT from Jul. 9 to 15. More than 70 students and teachers from 30 universities crossing the strait and in Hong Kong and Macao took part in the camp. The aim of the camp was to enhance students’ understanding of mainland’s culture by organizing them to visit Guangzhou, Foshan and Zhongshan. On Jul 15, students shared their ideas and thinking in B1-106, university town campus. Representatives of Taiwan Affairs Office of People’s Government and The School of Economics and Commerce were present on the sharing report.
During the activity, students paid visits to renowned Ling Nan human historical scenic sites, such as Whampoa Military Academy, Sun Yat-sen’s former residence, Chen Clan Academy, etc., experienced dense artistic and humanity atmosphere in these areas. They also got exposure under the traditional handicraft arts, freehand ceramics, dancing lion and martial arts. Students became familiar with each other and led to harmonious friendship by communication in the activity.
Except for the traditional culture sites, students also witnessed modern look of the Ling Nan cities. They visited the symbol of Super Engineering Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Dongshen Water Supply Engineering, TBA Tower and Guangzhou Tower, feeling the rapid development of Pearl River Delta. Students expressed their fond farewell to Ling Nan at the end of the activity.
It is learned that the camp has been held for 4 sessions, aiming at promoting Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao students’ sense of national identity and providing a positive platform for them to broaden their horizon and pass optimistic energy. (Translated and Edited by HUANG Xiaoting)
