The Research Center for Intelligent Supply Chain and Service Operation was established in January 2011. It is committed to the integration of domestic and foreign academic resources and business resources, carrying out comparative study of supply chain integration and service in different countries. It gives full play to the advantages of academic resources and research in the university and partner with companies for joint research so that the Chinese companies can receive guidance and support in industrial upgrading and transformation. The Center has a strong software and hardware support from the School and the University, it also has the geographical advantage in the Pearl River Delta region, has a world-class expert advisory team and a strong interdisciplinary research team, as well as a wide network of global academic cooperation networks and corporate networks. In this regard, the Center has obtain the project titled in the Service Operation Management under the Network Environment supported by the NNSF and other major projects supported by national level research foundation.

The Center partners with nearly twenty internationally-renowned universities in the United Kingdom, the United States and Hong Kong. Twenty-four influential experts in international supply chain management and operations management are hired to be mentors and senior researchers. The experts work with our own researchers on a long-term basis. Besides many companies are willing to cooperate with the Center, such as CMCC (Guangzhou), Tencent, Alibaba, China Southern Airlines, Ctrip and Li & Fung Limited. These companies provide support for the study of theory and best practices in supply chain management and service operations management.

The Center chairs thirty-four major research projects, including Study on Service Operations Management in the Internet Era and Innovative Practices in Supply Chain Management in China from National Natural Science Fund. The overall research funding is 9.367 million RMB yuan. The team members published thirty-nine papers in international journals and fifty-three papers in Chinese journal. Three projects were awarded by the government.
