The Guangzhou Digital Innovation Research Center was constructed with the support of the School of Business Administration of South China University of Technology, with Professor Zhang Zhengang as the director.
The Center focuses on the major theoretical and practical issues of the development of digital economy in China, Guangdong Province and Guangzhou, and comprehensively applies the knowledge of enterprise strategic management, innovation management, digital innovation and other disciplines to conduct comprehensive and cross-research. The center puts its effects in three aspects: the first is to set up the theoretical and policy research center of Guangzhou's digital economy innovation, the second is to become the think tank of Guangzhou's enterprise digital transformation, and the third is to set up the pilot and demonstration center for formulating enterprise innovation strategy, constructing innovative system, and providing innovation method training under the background of the digital economy era.
The center has gathered more than 30 core members from the School of Business Administration, the School of Public Administration, the Department of Tourism Management etc., including 7 professors, 5 associate professors, and 16 doctoral and master students. In the past three years, Prof. Zhang Zhengang has published more than 20 theoretical articles in authoritative media such as the Xue Xi Qiang Guo, China Social Science, Reference News, South Daily, Guangzhou Daily, etc.. The center and its core members have published five books and textbooks, more than 40 papers in SSCI and CSSCI journals such as Industrial Marketing Management, International Journal of Operations&Production Management, Management World, and Studies in Science of Science, and won the second prize of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award in 2021 (the highest prize in the field of soft science). Besides, the center and its members have undertook more than 10 major projects sponsored by National Social Science Foundation, National Social Science Foundation, Guangzhou Municipal Government research foundation, and enterprise consultative projects. Therefore, the center has laid a solid research foundation in digital economy, digital innovation, and enterprise digital transformation, which provide a strong support and contribute to make recommendations for government departments at all levels of Guangdong province and Guangzhou city in decision-making.
