Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory for Innovative Methodology & Decision-making Management System (hereinafter referred to as “the Laboratory” or “the Breeding Base”) is jointly constructed by South China University of Technology and Guangdong University of Technology. These two universities rely on their respective advantages in management and engineering, integrate the three innovative factors of technology, management and market, fully consider about China's national conditions and the reality of Guangdong's development, in order to explore innovative methods and management decision-making technology with Chinese characteristics and characteristics of Guangdong's industrial development, and further to develop a set of enterprise innovation overall solutions and operational process specifications.
In South China University of Technology, the School of Business Administration plays a leading role to collaborate the School of Mechanical & Automotive Engineering, School of Design, School of Software Engineering, along with certain majors to build the Laboratory. There are three physical research labs afflicted to the Laboratory (the Breeding Base), namely are: Innovation Theory and Method Research Lab, Innovation Engineering Research Lab, and Innovation Application and Training Research Lab. Innovation Theory and Method Research Lab focuses on research on integration theory of innovative methods, and carry out theoretical research in the fields of technology foresight, innovation evaluation, innovation process optimization, innovation management etc., and provides theoretical support for the realization of innovative method engineering. Innovation Engineering Research Lab aims to studies on and resolve essential issues occurring during the process, stages and innovation process from the perspective of engineering. The Lab actively expand existing innovative engineering methods, and introduce methods and tools in the fields of computer, microelectronics, industrial engineering, machinery manufacturing, materials and bioengineering on the basis of traditional innovation theories and methods, to expand and carry out research in the field of innovative engineering. The Innovation Application and Training Research Lab mainly focus on promoting the innovative research results in different industries and enterprises, developing curriculum systems of innovative theory and method, as well as talents cultivation related to both innovation and entrepreneurship.
The School of Electromechanical Engineering along with the Research institute of Extenics and Innovation Methods of Guangdong University of Technology are mainly responsible for the tasks assigned by the Laboratory (the Breeding Base). They combine the original theory of extincs with innovative method based on TRIZ, thus to set up the theoretical system of innovative method with Chines characteristics. Meanwhile, they carry out application in the fields of digital innovation design for products, and industrial engineering and management innovation. Relying on discipline construction and academic research while combining the means of industry-university-research, the Laboratory aims at cultivating a professional team and service team, thus to set up a platform for the promotion and application of innovative methods in Guangdong province; integrate social resources for enterprises, in order to support and serve the enterprises, universities and research institutions of Guangdong province in promoting and applying innovative methods. Furthermore, the Laboratory is also targeting at building a platform for the promotion and application of innovative methods in Guangdong Province, in order to strongly support activities related to promotion and application of innovative methods, to realize the popularization of innovative methods in Guangdong and the extensive and in-depth application of innovative methods in Guangdong’s enterprises, to promote enterprises’ capacity in technological innovation and R&D, thus to create a batch of independent intellectual property rights that shall promote the province's enterprises to change their roles from manufacturing to creation. By undertaking the overall task of research and promotion and application of innovative methods issued by the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, the Laboratory assists the mentioned Department to improve and manage the supporting system for the promotion and application of innovative methods in the province, and continue to carry out a series of promotional activities through magazines, websites, newsletters and conferences, etc.
