The China Marketing Management Research Center (hereinafter referred to as “the Center”) of South China University of Technology was established in November, 2007. Relying on teaching, scientific research and brand advantages of marketing department of School of Business Administration, South China University of Technology, as well as the marketing development practices and environment of the world manufacturing hinterland -- Pearl River Delta, the Center has integrated various resources of the university, scientific research departments and enterprises at home and abroad, so as to carry out the basic and applied research on marketing in China actively.
The Center is chaired by Professor SHA Zhenquan of the School of Business Administration of South China University of Technology, who is currently the Standing Director and Academic Committee Member of China Marketing Society. The Center has invited Professor You Hanming, an international famous marketing scholar and a professor of the Department of Marketing of City University of Hong Kong, to join the research team as a consultant. At present, the research team of the Center has 13 researchers, including five professors (one PhD supervisor), four associate professors and four lecturers, and there are also one postdoctoral research follow, three doctoral students and seven part-time doctoral candidates.
The research team of the Center have attached great importance to the combination of theory and application, and have published a number of monographs and more than 50 important papers by using standardized research methods to conduct in-depth researches on marketing theory and practice. These studies focus on the marketing of small and medium-sized enterprises, retail marketing, consumer behavior and green marketing, brand strategy and service marketing. In addition, the Center has a close communication with international academic research teams in the field of marketing, such as UCLA, City University of Hong Kong, Taiwan University of Success, Aston University, etc. It also actively carries out the localization research of western marketing theories and methods, promotes the international innovation of Chinese marketing theories, and improves the theoretical research level of Chinese marketing.
The researchers of the Center have kept a close relationship with the business community of local area, especially the enterprises in the Pearl River Delta. On the one hand, there is a convenient condition for the researchers to understand the marketing practices and obtain the first-hand information. On the other hand, a strong research team has been formed to understand the local market and provide consulting services for enterprises.The researchers of the Center have provided excellent consulting and research services for many large enterprises in the Pearl River Delta, such as China Southern Power Grid, Guangzhou Friendship Group Co.,Ltd., and have received highly comments. The last but not the least, the Center is committee, so as to play a key role in the world marketing research field. It is also indicated itself to comprehensively improve the practices and scientific research level of China's marketing, and contribute itself to the healthy development of China's marketing and social economy, especially in the Pearl River Delta region.
