The Research Center for Contemporary Manufacturing Information System (hereinafter referred to as “the Center”) is constructed as the national new-type industrialization and innovational research base. Setting up in October 2006, it is affiliated to South China University of Technology and the New-type Industrialization Research Institute and Laboratory. The Center is chaired by Professor SUN Yanming, and its research team consist of seven full-time members and one part-time member, and has cultivated 28 master and doctoral students.
The Center is in indicated into enterprise technology management based in theoretical research, industrial engineering, and applied technology and related theories of informational technology, as well as corresponding teaching and research activities and external services.
The applied basic researches include two directions, namely are manufactory information system module construction modeling and simulation of manufacturing information system based on complexity science and production operation system optimization and information technology application. The practical applications include four directions, specifically are manufacturing operations management, process optimization and information system diagnostics and planning, ASP (application service provider) model industrial/engineering design and knowledge supply systems, industrialized erp and manufacturing enterprise business intelligence analysis system, and production process management and control integration system (MES, manufacturing execution system).
