主讲人介绍:

Prof. Waiz Ahmed, MAS, PhD华南理工大学 “高端外国专家”,加拿大Concordia大学机械与工业工程系教授。

Dr. Waizuddin Ahmed earned a diploma in Automobile and Road Transport Engineering in 1974 from Willesden College of Technology, London, U.K. Following this, he worked in various capacities for automotive industries in U.K. for three years. He earned his B.Eng in 1980 andPh.D. in 1986, both in mechanical engineering from Concordia University, Dr. Ahmed joined the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science as anassistant professor in 1987.Dr. Ahmed teaches courses in applied mechanics and advance courses in the vehicle engineering.

He was instrumental in the development of vehicle engineering program, related laboratories and graduate program at Concordia University. He was a founding member of Concordia Centre for Advance Vehicle Engineering (CONCAVE) that has earned an international reputation. Dr. Ahmed also served as the Director of CONCAVE for two terms. He is active in research in the fields of road and railway vehicle systems and has graduated over 30 masters and doctoral students as well as post-doctoral candidates in the field. Dr. Ahmed has also served as the graduate Program Director for his department at Concordia University for four years ending in 2012.He has published over 110 technical papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He has also written a chapter on road vehicle ride for the encyclopedia of vibrations. His innovative design of an active steering system and its control strategy was awarded a US patent in 2012. Dr. Ahmed has served as a visiting researcher and professor at Clemson University U.S.A; Transport Institute and IPN Graduate School in Mexico; IIT Delhi, India; and IUT, Bangladesh and offered several short courses and keynote lectures on vehicle dynamics. He is serving as a member of Honorary Advisory Board for BUET Journal of Mechanical Engineering since 1995. He was named a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (FASME) in 2012.
