报告人简介:
Dr. Moataz Attallah received his PhD in metallurgy and materials science from the University of Birmingham (2007), BSc (highest honours) and MSc degrees from the American University in Cairo (AUC) Egypt, in mechanical engineering, and materials/manufacturing engineering, respectively. Following his PhD, Moataz worked as a research fellow at the University of Manchester Materials Science Centre, prior to his appointment as a lecturer at the School of Metallurgy and Materials at the University of Birmingham in 2010. His research portfolio over the past 12 years has been focused on studying the structural integrity, phase transformations, microstructure-property and residual stress development in laser additive manufacture technologies and friction-based welding technologies of aerospace materials. His work combines a wide range of experimental techniques, including synchrotron x-rays and neutron diffraction, electron microscopy, in-situ high temperature confocal scanning microscopy, and mechanical properties characterisation. He co-authored over 30 journal and conference papers, 1 book chapter, and several industrial reports.
Dr. Attallah leads the 36-researcher strong Advanced Materials and Processing Group (AMPLab). The research is performed in close collaboration with a large number of industrial end-users in the aerospace, defence, nuclear, and general engineering sectors, including Rolls-Royce plc, BAe Systems, Safran Group (Messier-Buggatti-Dowty and MicroTurbo), TWI ltd, Meggitt, AEC, TIMET, and others. Current active grants approach in value £ 4.5 millions (2013), from the EU, TSB, EPSRC and the industry.
