1963年9月出生,湖南岳阳人,博士,教授,博士生导师,广东省“珠江学者”特聘教授。主要从事生物酶应用于制浆造纸、植物纤维与纳米纤维素、生物质基高分子功能材料的研究。

1980年9月-1984年6月,在湖南师范大学化学系,获理学学士学位

1987年9月-1990年6月,在中山大学化学系有机化学专业,获理学硕士学位

1995年10月-1996年6月,在香港中文大学生物系作访问学者

1997年9月-2000年6月,在华南理工大学造纸工程学院制浆造纸工程专业,获工学博士学位

2001年11月-2003年7月,在美国佐治亚理工学院做博士后研究

2003年8月-2003年11月,在美国俄勒冈州立大学做研究

1990-2004年,在中国科学院广州化学研究所工作,从事纤维素化学和木素生物降解研究;

2004-2019年,在华南理工大学制浆造纸工程国家重点实验室工作,担任常务副主任。

2005年-至今,《纤维素科学与技术》编委

2006年-至今,广东省造纸学会理事
