Etude

  Here I would rather share my feeling with you about a movie, though I’m sure that my assignment is a book report. In fact, this movie is more like a beautiful written book. The movie has a romantic name “etude”.

  The theme of this story is about life reflecting by delicately discribing the hero’s island cycling in Taiwan before graduate. Hearing impaired and having speaking flaw, he picked up his guitar and a big bachpack. Without hesitation, he set off.

  In this long journey, bad weather, lonelyness, and many other hardships had occurred to him. Apart from all these difficulties, he came across many people in the trip. They all seemed to be ordinary people. However, in his eyes, something sparkled from such ordinary people, ordinary lifes, and ordinary trip. And that, as far as I am concerned, happens to be the miracles which are ignored by us.

  On the trip of cycling, he encountered with a movie maker, a painting teenager, an old teacher, a travel guide, a happy family, a carpenter, and his own grandparents. Some are strange to him, while others familiar. The story between them is nothing special, but the strong enthusiasm of life just shocks readers so strongly contacting to the peaceful heart of the hero.

  When Defu Hu sang the song “the wind from Pacific ocean” besides the sea, the scenery is so touching and beautiful that I can’t help smiling in a complicated mood. With the song, the hero rided his bike and breathed the fresh wind. It seems that in this moment, life is simple and peaceful. It seems that all the pains would fade away.

  “There is something that if you don’t do it now, you would never do it forever.” The hero said, in his unfrequnent speaking. Simple, but powerful. Many of the sentences in the movie are thoughtful and touching. It reminds us of something precious in daily life, such as love, bravery, dream and so on. And the guitar which was companying the hero, from my view, is the soul of the hero, or his life. Sometimes, it may be broken. But anyway, if only it can be played, its life is still going on.

  Then I refer to some comments on the internet, and I found that most of the people have great feelings about it. I was wondering why such a story with plain climax can have the magical power to touch the soft heart of people? Immediately, I realized that what really absorbs is the enthusiasm from the hero’s heart. He never complained about the world. Instead, he was far thankful. He appreciated the nature and the beautiful virtues in human beings. At the same time, he was also being appreciated by those people who he met.

  I have been absorbed in this movie for long time. Yes, we should smile,for the blue sky that drys our eyes, for the fresh wind that blows on our faces, for the sunshine that touches our hands, for the loving people who make your life fabulous. All of us have a wonderful etude in our daily life, and it is waiting for your playing.
