Evil under the Sun is the first detective story I have ever read,and it is so lucky of me to have it to be the opening one for this kind of literature form.The story has filled the emptiness in my winter holidays and given me such fun experience of reading the detective story.
Agatha Christie is called the queen of detective stories in the world.She has written a lot of great works and has a large number of fans,among whom are many celebrities like the former president of United States Bill Clinton who admires Agatha Christie very much.Moreover,her works are thought the top of the same literature among others in the same period of time by many literature critics.I myself am also very fond of her.After reading this book and seeing her delicate writing skills and wisdom,my respect becomes nothing but deeper.I believe every people not just I will feel impressed enormously after reading her genius on the paper and know why She is truly the one and only Queen of Crime.
Firstly attracted by such a mystery writer,I am assured this story can not be boring and soon after it proved me just right. The fiction mainly tells that a flirtatious young bride is strangled to death while vacationing, and only Poirot can unravel the woman's strange secrets.In this case, the Jolly Roger, a vacation hotel on the southern coast of England. One of the guests, a gorgeous, dramatic flirt, is strangled to death, and the famous detective Hercule Poirot who happens to be vacationing at the Jolly Roger, too sets out to solve the case.Reading along, Each of the well-developed characters seem suspect and we readers will constantly be changing our bets as to whodunit. Considered by many to be one of the very best Agatha Christie mysteries, this macabre tale has lost none of its crisp intrigue. Using a plot formula that has since become a mystery standard, Christie conveniently gathers all the characters in one hard-to-leave location.
Apart from the author’s mature writing art and those ups and downs in the plot,a little detail arouses my interest.That is the description of a teenage girl Linda Marshall’s special psycological progress in the very period of her life.Her father is Kenneth Marshall married to Arlena who becomes Linda’s stepmother and murdered in the case.Arlena has a frivolous manner with men,loves vainity and to be the center of people’s talking.She cares nothing but herself,which has some quite negetive impact on Linda’s immature mind.Besides,Kenneth does not communicate with his daughter a lot,leading to a huge understanding gap between them.Acumulating all these passive feelings in her and having no way to vent herself,Linda’s thought begins to twist and she becomes more and more gloomy.
In my opinion ,Linda’s problem is not unique but commonly seen among those youngsters who are going through their puberties.When at this key period,young boys and girls are in a vulnerable mental state.They observe things and people around them carefully and grow both physiologically and psycologically.The environment they are living in and studying in plays an essential part of their personality molding.Therefore,in order to keep the teenagers healthy,especially in physiological developing,the whole society ought to pay much attention to problems on them and take effective measures.
Adolescents tend to be easily affected by the surroundings then lost their life direction.It reminds me the similar experience of a classmate of mine in the primary school.He had a traffic accident when he is little and his mother also died soon later in a traffic crash on her way to see her son in hospital.His family was buried into great agony.However,his father screwed with a woman and started to take illegal drugs.More awfully,his father had drinking problems and often abuse him with words and violence.Later his father was arrested because of breaking a law and made the boy live on his own in his home with some trivial helps from the neighbors or relatives.In a word his family was a total mess and no useful assitance went to him.At last he started fooling around with some bad street peopleand skipping schoolgetting into the corrupt habits of stealing,spelling and so on.He did not accept those late helps and steped on the road that is wrongly taken. It is so pityful to see a happy family swallowed bit by bit,but it is even more heart-breaking to see a teenage boy rotting little by little and losing his future.What a tragedy!If only someone had given him a hand in time and dragged him up from the moor!If only he had gotten hold of himself!If only...
The unfortunate has already happened and it is no use signing aside.There are many such kind of things going on worldwidely.The urgent task now is to find out ways to avoiding this happen again.Our society should give more guidance and practical aids to the teenagers in various severe conditions.We shuold care about them more so that they can get sincere helps.Treat them equally without discriminations.As a whole,youngsters symbolize the development of the future world.Thus it is high time we made a move for their healthy development.
