The first time when I saw this book, I thought that it would be a fiction describing something mysterious. However, it was a book that told a story about a wonderful garden. And this garden connected with a man, a boy and a girl.

  The book told us that a thin, ugly girl abandoned by her mother was adopted by her uncle. She had neither met her uncle nor came to his strange castle. Everything for her was new and dark because she could find no one to rely on, to trust on. Because of her cranky temper, she hated the people around her and she could not have a good appetite. Having lived in that old castle for a few months, she found something intriguing-the garden. Mary began to play around the garden, to enjoy the fresh air that poured in her body. Her check began to blossom and had some red spots and she ate a lot after doing some running in the garden. She felt the sky, the trees, the flowers, the features and everything in her eyes became beautiful. The love of this place was growing in Mary’s mind. What she did everyday made her become a cute, healthier child instead of weak, sick girl. The sun shine now was piercing in her world.

  Another boy could not be ignored was Colin. He used to be a weak boy and hated everyone in the world like Mary. He grew up in his dark room without parents’ love and he could only saw his servants and doctor. Colin had no hope of his life because his father didn’t like and care about him. However, his life had a turning point when Mary found him because of his crying. Since then, Mary and Colin became friends and they shared everything with each other. Mary told the interesting things in the garden with Colin to satisfy his curiosity about the outside world and Colin said some stories in his delicate books to make Mary’s well filled with knowledge. Making acquaintance with Mary was not only beneficial to Colin’s health but also his emotion. He was happy and willing to face the new day instead of being cranky.

  Colin had changed. He changed because he felt happy and hopeful for his life and he looked forward to being cared about by his father. He was eager to know something about the past, figuring out what had happened instead of being wrapped in his bed.

  Mr. Caven, a very strange man. He lost his hope after his wife died and he could not face his son. It was a disaster. The whole castle was covered by the sadness and no one here felt happy. He was sad until he went travel and remembered some wonderful happy scenes he had ever got. He realized he was alive again and he was eager to meet his son.

   Having been in his castle, he found happy because he saw some children playing around. He determined to open the door that closed for ten years. The lovely garden was opening to him. The more closely he walked near the secret garden, the more laughter he could hear.

   Those three person used to cranky, unhealthy became new person. They believed the life and they began to accept it as a good thing.

  Life is not easy and going like what we want. We will encounter with some difficulties and sadness. When it is irresistible, we need to face with it rather than escape because the unfortunate could not be converted into fortunate by itself. Hence, life demands us to get through it by ourselves. The people who could get rid of the difficulties quickly, he will be the winner of his life. Life cannot be changed. What we are capable to do is to adjust ourselves, changing our attitudes and being confident to greet another day. Even though we could not adjust ourselves quickly, we still need the hope, believing that the new life will be coming one day.

  As a college student, countless difficulties and challenges are waiting for us, which can be defeated by our braveness and confidence. God will open a window for you when a door is closed. What we need to do is to treasure the day we own and seize it tightly.
