Microbiology Enters of Top 1% ESI Disciplines: Boosting SCUT’s Top 1% Count to 18
On September 11, the latest data from the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database by Clarivate Analytics shows that Microbiology at South China University of Technology (SCUT) has made its debut in the global top 1% for the first time. As a result, the number of SCUT’s disciplines ranked in the top 1% globally has increased to 18, including 5 in the top 1‰ and 2 in the top 1‱ ——tying for fourth place nationally in the latter category. Currently SCUT’s overall global ranking stands at 139th, marking a 29-place improvement from the same period in 2024.
Key contributing units to this milestone include the School of Biology and Biological Engineering, School of Food Science and Engineering, Second Affiliated Hospital (Guangzhou First People's Hospital), School of Environment and Energy, and School of Medicine, covering multiple fields such as biology, food science and engineering, clinical medicine, and basic medicine.
