South China University of Technology Delegation Visits Hong Kong to Launch Research Institute and Boost Sci-Tech Collaboration
A delegation led by Zhang Xichun, Chancellor of South China University of Technology (SCUT), visited Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) from August 11 to 12, 2025, to advance academic cooperation and technological innovation. During the visit, SCUT signed a university-level strategic cooperation agreement with HKBU and renewed their undergraduate student exchange program. Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President Li Weiqing accompanied for visiting the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Hechuang Cooperation Zone.

On August 12, the inauguration ceremony of SCUT’s International Medical Device Testing Institute (Hong Kong) was held at the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation Park. Zhang Xichun and the Administrative CEO of the Park, Ma Weishan, jointly attended the cooperation launch ceremony. On the same day, Chinese Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng visited the International Medical Testing Institute, affirming its construction and development. Minister Huai also attended the Hong Kong & Macao Regional Contest of the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition (2025), co-organized by SCUT and hosted by The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive John Lee, Zhang Xichun, and others participated in the “Smart Medical” category event on the morning of August 13.
