UCL delegation visits SCUT and signs a Memorandum of Understanding
Recently, Professor Ivan P. Parkin, Member of Academia Europaea and Dean of Faculty of Maths & Physical Sciences at University College London (UCL), along with Associate Professor He Guanjie from UCL Department of Chemistry and his team member visited South China University of Technology (SCUT). During the visit, the two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Dr. Li Weiqing, Vice President of SCUT, met the guests at the Guangzhou International Campus.
Signing the MoU
Li Weiqing warmly welcomed Professor Parkin and his delegation. She introduced SCUT's development and the innovative international education model of the Guangzhou International Campus. She noted that SCUT had established multiple collaborations with leading UK higher education institutions, and expressed hopes to promote more diverse two-way exchanges and cooperation between SCUT and the globally prestigious UCL. She also invited UCL faculty and students to participate in SCUT's International Summer School on Emerging Engineering Disciplines.
Professor Parkin thanked SCUT for the warm hospitality. He emphasized the two universities had a lot of common ground in cross-disciplinary development and talent cultivation, and hoped that the signing of the MoU would further strengthen bilateral partnership. He stated that UCL would warmly welcome SCUT students to study at UCL and encourage UCL students to visit SCUT for academic exchanges.
At the end of the meeting, Professor Parkin, representing UCL's Faculty of Maths & Physical Sciences, signed the MoU with SCUT's School of Future Technology, in which the two institutions would cooperate in the exchange of academic information and publications, exchange of faculty and administrative staff members, development of joint research projects, and international Summer Camp, etc.
The delegation also toured the exhibition hall, library, and School of Future Technology at the Guangzhou International Campus to learn about this campus's development planning, disciplinary layout, and research platforms. Representatives from SCUT's International Office, Office of Global Affairs and School of Future Technology attended the event.
