University of Technology Sydney Delegation Visits SCUT and Signs Joint Student Training Degree Program Agreement with SCUT
On April 26th, a delegation led by Iain Watt, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President of the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), visited South China University of Technology (SCUT). The Assistant to the President of SCUT welcomed the guests at the Shaw Building of Humanities, where a collaborative agreement on the 3+2 Joint Degree Program between the two universities was signed.
Meeting
The Assistant to the President of SCUT extended a warm welcome and introduced the university's development, emphasizing the achievements in exploring new paths for the “Internationalization at Home” Model at the Guangzhou International Campus (GZIC). Recognizing the shared strengths in scientific research, discipline structure, program offerings, and talent training models between the two universities, which are both research-oriented universities specializing in engineering and technology, he expressed confidence that this exchange would facilitate the establishment of a friendly and practical cooperation.
Iain Watt noted that while this was his first visit representing UTS, it marked his ninth visit to SCUT. He acknowledged the changes in developments and achievements made by the university during each visit. Impressed by the advanced educational concepts, modern facilities, harmonious integration between both Chinese and western elements, and outstanding performance by students at GZIC, he expressed a desire to deepen collaboration in student joint training, exchange programs, faculty visits, and research cooperation.
Signing ceremony
Following the discussions, a signing ceremony for the 3+2 Joint Degree Program was held. According to the agreement, SCUT and UTS will collaborate in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, and Robotics Engineering.
With this agreement as a foundation, the two universities aim to expand collaboration areas, innovate cooperation models, enhance cooperation mechanisms, and elevate the level of cooperation. They seek to jointly explore new paths for internationalized education and research cooperation, achieving mutually beneficial and win-win development.

During the visit, the UTS delegation toured GZIC and communicated with students face to face. The students' professional competence and international perspectives left a profound impression on the visitors.
