From August 26th to 28th, the finals of the 5th China College Students’ Integrated Circuit Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was successfully hosted by the Talent Exchange Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The award ceremony of the finals was held in Chongqing on October 17th. The 12 participating teams sent by the School of Microelectronics from South China University of Technology won 1 enterprise special award, 3 first prizes, 4 second prizes, and 5 third prizes. At the same time, South China University of Technology won the “Excellent Organization Award”.

During the finals, the Organizing Committee organized a variety of activities for participating teachers and students, such as student work exhibitions, corporate presentations, matchmaking meetings, and the Integrated Circuit Industry-University Cooperation Forum. Mr. Chen Zhijian from the School of Microelectronics shared his report Exploring the Industry-University Integration Based on China College Students’ Integrated Circuit Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition at the forum.

The China College Students’ Integrated Circuit Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition hosted by the Talent Exchange Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, aims to implement the national strategic deployment of developing integrated circuit, serve the overall development of China’s integrated circuit industry, innovate the talent training mode, and provide a large number of excellent reserve talents for the industry.

The 5th China College Students’ Integrated Circuit Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was launched in January 2021. There are 18 corporate cup competitions, divided into 6 major tracks, covering the entire IC industry chain. The Competition attracts more than 10,000 teachers and students from over 250 universities and colleges. After being selected from the 7 major divisions, 391 teams out of over 3,000 teams advanced to the national finals.

The School of Microelectronics has selected 29 teams to participate in the corporate cup competitions, such as NAURA Cup, YDME Cup, AWCloud Cup, Robei Cup, ARM Cup, IEEE Cup, Awinic Cup,PangoMicro Cup, covering RF and analog chips, digital and SoC design, FPGA design and application, innovation practice and other fields. These teams won 2 first prizes, 8 second prizes, and 11 third prizes in the South China Division in July, making SCUT the most participating and winning unit in the South China Division.

Sticking to promoting learning and education by competition, the School of Microelectronics will serve the national needs for strategic and industrial development, deepen the integration of production and education, innovate the talent training mode, improve students’ innovative, practical and cooperative abilities, and strive to cultivate them into applied engineering and technical talents in the field of integrated circuit to help boost a healthy and rapid development in China’s integrated circuit industry.
