The 2nd International Conference on Biofilms (ChinaBiofilms 2019) was held in Liwu Technology Building, Guangzhou from October 10th to 13th, co-sponsored by School of Food Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology, Guangdong Province Key Laboratory For Green Processing of Natural Products and Product Safety, Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center of Starch & Protein Processing, and Southern University of Science & Technology School of Medicine.
The conference followed academic and international principles, referring to the EuroBiofilms and ASMBiofilms, with a one-day workshop and a three-day conference. Prof. Shirtliff, a full Professor from University of Maryland, served as the honorary chairman of the conference. Over 50 representatives in the field of biofilms, from 16 famous foreign universities and 24 domestic high-level universities, had been invited as the keynote speaker and guest speaker. In workshop, Prof. Tom, a chairman of EuropBiofilms and editor of Elsevier, had been invited to share the experience of SCI papers writing and submission.
A total of 8 invited reports, 44 theme reports and 51 posters had been presented at the conference, introducing the advanced research progress of biofilms involving several research fields including food safety control, clinical medical and environmental science and application, attracting nearly 200 domestic and foreign experts in the conference to discuss the trends of future research and development.
The conference aimed to provide experts, scholars, engineers and technicians engaged in the research of biofilms with a platform to increase fundamental knowledge of microbial biofilms and understand academic development trends, promoting the industrialization of academic achievements and the construction of disciplines in South China University of Technology.
