BIOGRAPHY

Zhigang Li received the B. Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2011 and 2016, respectively. He was a visiting scholar at Robert W. Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation at Illinois Institute of Technology from Sept. 2014 to Sept. 2015, funded by the China Scholarship Council. He was also a visiting scholar at Energy System Division, Argonne National Laboratory, U.S., from May 2015 to Sept. 2015. He has been an Associate Professor with the School of Electric Power Engineering, South China University, since Apr. 2016.

Dr. Li’s research interests include power system optimization and control, renewable energy integration, and integrated energy systems analysis with specific focus on large-scale wind power generation dispatch. Dr. Li has authored and co-authored 26 technical papers in IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, and IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid. He received the Best Paper Award from the Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering for his journal paper in Automation of Electrical Power Systems in 2014. He has reviewed more than 80 papers for IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, IEEE Power Engineering Letters, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IET Generation, Transmission and Distributions, IET Renewable Power Generation, Electric Power Components and Systems, Journal of Modern Power and Clean Energy, CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems, IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meetings. He is the recipient of the Outstanding Reviewer for 2016 of IEEE Transactions on Power Systems for his contribution to the review activities of that journal.

Dr. Li was one of the ten recipients the Prospective Scholar Honor of Tsinghua University in 2016 for his academic achievements. He was the recipient of Excellent Ph.D. Thesis Award for his dissertation entitled Multi-Dimension Coordinated Power Dispatch Methods for Interconnected Power Systems Accommodating Large-Scale Wind Power Integration. He also received the Outstanding Ph.D. Graduate Award from Tsinghua University, and the Distinguished Graduate of Colleges and Universities from Beijing City.
