On November 9, 2017, the Guangdong Science and Technology Department invited experts from the Provincial Laboratory Animal Society to carry out on-site assessment of the application for the use of experimental animals of the School of Biology and Biological Engineering.

At the meeting, Secretary Wu Chunnian introduced the current rapid development of biomedicine and life science in our college to the leaders and experts of the Provincial Science and Technology Department. Both of the Laboratory Animal Center and other public platforms have an increasing demand of it.

First of all, Xie Shuilin, head of the Laboratory Animal Center, reported to the expert group about the preparation, operation, existing problems and future development of the animal laboratory. Then the expert group conducted an oral and written examination, practical assessment, application materials verification, on-site inspection and other links to the vice Dean Wang Jufang in charge of the leadership as well as the professional and technical personnel. Meanwhile, they scored the establishment and operation, facilities and management, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and management systems of the Experimental Animal Management and Ethics Committees. Finally, the expert team leader summarized the experts' scores and gave the conclusion of the on-site assessment. Finally, the on-site assessment of the experimental animals' use license in our college was successfully passed.

The smooth passing of the on-site assessment filled the gaps in the laboratory of our university in large animals (dogs and monkeys) and built a good platform for the development of life science in our university.
