3. Research Focus
The study of my lab focus on the fish immunology and enzyme biotechnology. For fish immunology, our pathogen model is a marine fish ciliate Cryptocaryon irritans, a severe parasite pathogen causing white spot disease . Our research focus on the fish immune response mechanism against this parasite, including the antigen presentation, T/B cell interaction, especially in the mucosal skin and gill tissues. For enzyme biotechnology, our research focus on the application of proteases and chitinases. From the transcriptome of different microbial, we screen gene resource of proteases and chitinases. We are using prokaryotic and eukaryotic expression system to obtain the recombinant enzymes. We study the relationship between their function and structure. The proteases are applied in the food protein hydrolysis and used as feed additives to help the animal's protein absorption. The chitinases are applied in the biomass chitin hydrolysis.
