September 17th to 19th, “the Seventh China Symposium on Enzyme Engineering”, cosponsored by the China Society of Microbiology for Enzyme Engineering Committee and the China Institute of Food Science and Technology for Enzyme Preparations, was solemnly held in Hefei. More than 10 teachers and students from the microbial enzymology laboratory in our school participated in this meeting. Doctor Lin gave a lecture of “the Application of yeast displayed technology and the whole-cell catalysis in the organic synthesis” in the meeting. Five students gave the oral academic report in the branch hall, and eight students participated in wall paper display. Encouragingly, the lectures named “Biodiesel Production Catalyzed by Rhizomucor miehei Lipase displayed on the surface of Pichia pastoris” and “Synthesis of aromatic esters catalyzed by CALB-displaying Pichia pastoris whole-cells in non-aqueous phase”, given by Huang Dengfeng and JinZi respectively, who are studying for Master’s in our school, have concerned about the first line of the national economy and helped to solve the outstanding problems in the actual production, showing a clear sense of the times and creativity. Thus, the lectures have been fully approved by the Organizing Committee and the lecturers have awarded excellent papers of youth of the meeting.
It was reported that more than 300 people attended this meeting, including famous experts and professors of enzyme engineering from colleges and universities and scientific research sectors across the country, and experts as well as representatives from companies related to the application of enzyme engineering and the production of enzyme preparations. The aim of this meeting was to accelerate of basic research and results of the enzyme engineering technology, promote the cooperation of scientific research, production and application of enzyme engineering, and make the scientific achievements to be the production capability. This meeting was a comprehensive, high-level, effective and innovative national conference.
