On the afternoon of March 16th 2012, the school acceptance meeting of the Key Technologies of Biology Industry Field, the third construction of 211 Project key disciplines, has been hosted in B6-207 academic hall of Biology Science and Bioengineering School. The expert team, Vice Schoolmaster Peng Yixin, the main members of the relative departments and the projects and schools which holding projects have attended this acceptance meeting. The head of expert team is Prof. Hao Jiming, the academician of China Engineering Institute.
First, Vice Schoolmaster Peng Yixin expressed the fervent welcome and appreciation for the experts who came to participate this acceptant check. Besides, he also introduced the overall achievement of the third construction of 211 Project in SCUT and illuminated the signification of the acceptance.
This meeting was hosted by PPT revealing and questioning. Vice headmaster Lin Ying has reported the accomplishment, the performance, the remarkable achievement, fund using, the management, the problems and the solutions of the Key Technologies of Biology Industry Field, the third construction of 211 Project key disciplines. During the third construction of the project, we have set up the technology platform of medical protein large scale ferment producing, the technology platform of bio-enzyme using in paper making and spinning cleaning and the technology platform of green food processing. With high quality performance, we have fulfilled the constructing tasks and aims.We have applied and granted the doctoral program of Biology discipline and our level of scientific results got obviously improved, which we have granted 2 national science and technology progress awards, 1 first prize of Scientific Progress Award in Guangdong, 1 high level article got published in Nature Biotechnology by cooperating with BGI. Besides, the high level multidisciplinary teams also got obviously improved, which we have invited 1 expert from National Thousand Project, got 3 staff selected into the New Century Talents Training Program of ministry of education. And the achievement of personnel training also got obviously improved, which we have got 2 doctoral dissertations selected into National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation and the nomination of National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation, respectively, and 4 doctoral dissertations selected into Guangdong Excellent Doctoral Dissertation, 2 master dissertations selected into Guangdong Excellent Master Dissertation, 10 students granted South China Outstanding Graduate. Under the leading of the disciplines innovation personnel training idea, undergraduate students participate the forefront of scientific research and published 14 articles in the sub-journals of Science and Nature as equal contribution or signature totally.Leaders and experts has appraised the accomplishment, performance, and management of the project aims and tasks by listening the project reports and reading the third construction project of 211 Project, the applications of projects and the FSR.
After that, the expert team went to laboratories for inspecting and formed the final view after knowing and discussing the project construction in detail. They considered that the projects were accomplished roundly with high quality and surpassed the expectation. Finally the project has passed without any objection. Besides, they suggested us to send up the investment for the project. This acceptance meeting guaranteed the accomplishing if high quality, high standard and high level checking, and set a foundation of the coming state acceptance.
