School students receive awards in iGEM Asian contest

Awards received
"We come from the School of Biological Science and Engineering, SCUT” Awards received

On October 6th, the iGEM (International Genetically Engineering Machine Competition) in Asia was closed in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Sponsored by MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and BioBricks Foundation, the contest has attracted 65 competing teams from universities including Peking University, the University of Hong Kong, the University of Sydney, the University of Tokyo ect. SCUT students from the School of Biological Science and Engineering who joined 3 competing teams in the Asian area contest have received Gold Medals with outstanding performances, and were qualified to participate in the iGEM Final on November 1st this year in MIT. The experimental team named “SCUT” which was first independently established by SCUT received a Silver Medal.

 

At present, the “SCUT-BGI Science Innovation Class” (BGI: Beijing Genomics Institute) is recruiting new members to prepare for the 2014 iGEM contest and its 10th anniversary held in MIT in Boston, America.
