Nov. 30th, 2014, buses brought alumnus and alumna back to their “home” to South China University of Technology South Campus B6. School of Bioscience and Bioengineering receipted them in highest standard and showed them the school history and old pictures leading them to finding their precious memories and meeting their old friends. Besides, alumnus and alumna also discuss the proposal work of alumnus association. This meeting not only brought them back to their memory, but also led them to heavy responsibility to the development of our school.
10 am, the first council of alumnus association of School of Bioscience and Bioengineering, SCUT was held in B6-207 in South Campus. University president assistant Zhang Ming, Director of University Public Relation Department Chen Yan, Dean of School of Bioscience and Bioengineering Tan Wen, Party Secretary of School of Bioscience and Bioengineering Liu Siying, Reputation Dean Wang Xiaoning and vice-dean Lin Ying and alumnus and alumna from all over the world attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by vice-dean Wu Zhenqiang.
Firstly, the dean Tan Wen gave a speech to welcome all the participants and praised their contributions. He expressed great thank to the schoolfellows for their help and contribution to our school and thanked to they bringing the influence of our school to everywhere in the world. He anticipated the schoolfellows to come back home anytime. Vice-dean Lin Ying introduced the current development condition including the subject, staff and cooperation to oversea university. Party secretary Liu Yingsi reported the preparing work of the alumnus association.
Afterwards, vice-dean Wu Zhenqiang hosted a discussion that alumnus association constitution was deliberated and passed. He announced the member list of the first council of alumnus association of School of Bioscience and Bioengineering, SCUT and invited university president assistant Zhang Ming to certificate the alumnus association and to issue the letter of appointment to members.
Then, the reputation dean Wang Xiaoning reviewed the school building aimed and praised the improvement and development of School of Bioscience and Bioengineering. He anticipated that with the support and help of all schoolfellows, the students of our school could study around the demand of the current society and apply the knowledge to the construction of the society. Mr. Yang Liyi represented all schoolfellows and gave a speech to express his thanks to SCUT, School, teachers and all his classmates, because his major change his fortune. He also introduced his researching interests and the technology of them in the speech. Zhang Ming, assistant of university president, congratulated to the establishment of the alumnus association of School of Bioscience and Bioengineering. He said that he will always support the association and anticipate the development of our school.
At last, a video named “returning home” which took us half a year shot by our school showed the deep friendship between classmates and their profound feeling to our school. All participants were touched by the video and looking forward to getting together in their same home- School of Bioscience and Bioengineering. With the music of Song of SCUT, the establishing ceremony came to the end.
After the ceremony, Mr. Zhao Mouming said in a interview that it was very happy to meet his old friends and teachers and showed his anticipation to the current students in school. Moreover, Mr. Yuan Yuyu expressed his thanks to mother school and said that our school not only taught him knowledge, but also taught him the skill to live in the society.
This establishing ceremony helped the schoolfellows to get together again and raised their old memory, strengthening the relationship between schoolfellows. Besides, it also led us to focus more on the development of School of Bioscience and Bioengineering. Let’s anticipate that the friendship between schoolfellows will go on and the alumnus association will be better and better.
