As I take the helm of School of Economics and Commerce, I would like to share with you my enthusiasm and expectations regarding the future of SEC. Entering the year of 2017, we aim to be one of China's leaders in business and economics education and research. SEC has been committed to develop leadership, to explore economics management theories and methods, and to help promote economic and social development.

SEC conducts seven departments, offering seven undergraduate programs, nine research oriented master programs, and two PhD programs. Our faculty members, many trained in top international programs, are producing original research ideas that are recognized and appreciated by their peers.

In recent years, SEC has made significant progresses in many fields such as research achievements and building international academic relationships. It is striving to realize its goal of training more outstanding and creative managerial talents for the society and international community.

In the course of development of the School of Economics and Commerce, we have always been following the motto of SCUT “Learn Extensively, Ponder Prudently, Discriminate Clearly, and Practice Devotedly”, cultivating better teaching faculty, expanding international cooperation, and improving academic research and management efficiency. With the help of industry colleagues and our alumni, SEC has had remarkable achievements in many areas. Nowadays, we have an important influence and status in the field of economics and the business community owing to the outstanding advantages in disciplines, reasonable settings of majors, excellent teaching faculty members, and fruitful scientific research.

Standing at the new starting point, SEC will continue to reform and innovate. Our new administrative team in the coming days will aim to make the best of the wisdom and strength of faculties and students, regard subjects, teachers, brand and mechanism as the focuses , and continuously promote the discipline, quality, personnel, brand, international collaboration and mechanism to achieve new improvement in areas of education, research and social services，thus fulfilling the mission of establishing a leading in South China, nationally top-ranking and internationally renowned school of economics and commerce.

On the new journey, we will be adhering to the sublimation of the sense of responsibility, indomitable perseverance will, the entrepreneurial spirit of unity and cooperation through reform trend and the collection of faculty and students, and be reforming, innovating as well as recreating greater glories.
