On the morning of June 16, the WU College of Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering at South China University of Technology held its 2026 graduation ceremony. Over 300 attendees—including undergraduate and postgraduate graduates, along with many proud parents—gathered for the occasion. The event was graced by the presence of College Party Secretary Zhang Zheng, Dean Academician Chen Xiaoqi, Associate Deans Xie Longhan and Chen Baiji, along with all faculty members.
Warm-Up Moments to Kick Things Off

The ceremony began on a heartfelt note as graduates painted traditional lacquer fans by hand, each one a unique keepsake filled with memories and hopes for the years ahead.

At the sign-in wall, smiles lit up every face as students paused for photos—capturing their youthful spirit, their nostalgia for the past, and their eager eyes on the future.

Then came a retrospective video that traced their campus journey, scene by scene, rekindling the warmth and determination of their academic years and officially opening the ceremony.
Dean’s Address: High Hopes for the Road Ahead

In his speech, Academician Chen Xiaoqi proudly reviewed the Class of 2026’s outstanding achievements: among undergraduates, 32 secured postgraduate admission to top domestic universities, 52 received offers from world-renowned institutions, bringing the further-study rate to 85%. The rest are joining national-strategy enterprises such as China Mobile, Huawei, and SiCarrier. Notably, student Zhou Qi co-authored a paper as first author in a Nature sub-journal—a first for an undergraduate in the college. Postgraduates also shone: 4 are pursuing further studies, 6 are entering major state-owned enterprises, and 16 are heading to industry leaders like Huawei and SiCarrier, each charting a promising path.
Against the backdrop of global technological upheaval, Dean Chen offered three earnest wishes: stay committed to lifelong learning and keep sharpening your skills; uphold the spirit of seeking truth through practice, daring to explore the “uncharted territories” of research and industry; and carry forward the patriotic legacy of SCUT, aligning personal ambitions with the nation’s broader development.
Voices from the Heart: Looking Forward

Party Secretary Zhang Zheng presented certificates to graduates who won the Outstanding Thesis Award, encouraging them to keep striving for excellence.

Then came the student speeches: undergraduate representative Ma Daining, master’s representative Wei Yi, and doctoral representative Wang Jingyu each took the stage, sharing heartfelt gratitude for their mentors, cherished memories with classmates, and reflections on their research journeys. They spoke of their reluctance to leave, their excitement for the future, and their pledge to remember their teachers’ advice—to step into the next chapter with courage and purpose, living up to their youth through solid action.
The Turning of the Tassel: A New Beginning

Academician Chen Xiaoqi personally turned the tassel for every graduate—a timeless ritual signifying academic completion and the wings to soar. Each photo captured that proud moment, putting a perfect finishing touch on their campus years. After seasons of hard work, today they set off on new voyages.
May all Wusic of 2026 carry the college’s blessings, uphold the motto of “Erudite, Discerning, and Resolute in Action,” and move forward with passion and resolve. Let knowledge be their wings, responsibility their sail—and may they ride the waves of this era, writing their own brilliant chapters as young SCUT pioneers.
