To promote the spirit of educators and strengthen long-term mechanisms for professional ethics in the new era, the Shien-Ming Wu School of Intelligent Engineering held its first faculty assembly and ethics awareness meeting on the afternoon of March 19. The gathering focused on the college’s 15th Five-Year Plan and outlined key priorities for the new semester. All faculty and staff attended, and the meeting was chaired by Dean Academician Chen,Xiaoqi.

Party Secretary Zhang,Zheng Delivers Lecture on Teacher Ethics

Party Secretary Zhang,Zheng delivered a lecture on teacher ethics, walking faculty through key documents such as the Ministry of Education’s guidelines on strengthening professional ethics, as well as the university’s assessment and disciplinary procedures. Using real-world examples, he explored common issues in areas like political awareness, faculty-student relationships, academic integrity, and personal conduct. He stressed that faculty must fully recognize the importance of ethics, learn from past cases, remain vigilant, and uphold professionalism. He also acknowledged the hard work and accomplishments of the staff during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, encouraging them to move forward with greater confidence and unity to contribute to the college’s high-quality development in the next five-year cycle.

Dean Academician Chen,Xiaoqi Outlines the College’s 15th Five-Year Plan

Dean Academician Chen,Xiaoqi reflected on the college’s achievements during the 14th Five-Year Plan, thanking faculty and staff for their dedication. He noted that significant progress had been made in talent development, research, and team building, laying a solid foundation for the future. He then outlined the college’s vision for the 15th Five-Year Plan, focusing on reforming student training models, recruiting top-tier talent, boosting research innovation, and expanding international collaboration. He encouraged everyone to build on their success and continue driving the college forward.

Executive Dean Yu,Zhuliang Discusses Resource Management

Executive Dean Yu,Zhuliang provided a detailed overview of the college’s workspace resource management, explaining the latest campus policies, current space allocation, and the core principles of the college’s approach. He invited feedback from faculty, noting that the college aims to refine resource allocation based on actual needs to improve efficiency. A dynamic adjustment mechanism will help ensure that resources effectively support teaching and research outcomes.

Deputy Deans Outline Key Priorities

The three deputy deans then addressed their respective areas of responsibility. Deputy Dean Xie,Longhan encouraged faculty to actively align with national strategies, pursue major research projects, and engage with emerging fields such as brain-computer interfaces and embodied intelligence. He also stressed the importance of lab safety, calling it the foundation for the college’s stability and urging everyone to strictly follow safety protocols. Deputy Dean Chan,Patrick pak Kei outlined key tasks for undergraduate education this semester, including advancing IET international engineering accreditation, building internship bases for undergraduates, enriching international course offerings, and standardizing teaching management. Deputy Dean Xu,Dabo focused on the standards and requirements for graduate admissions, emphasizing fairness and transparency. He also encouraged supervisors to support students in international exchange and joint programs to broaden their global perspectives.

During the discussion session, faculty actively exchanged ideas on topics such as college management, student training models, and research funding applications. The meeting helped clarify the college’s goals and direction for the 15th Five-Year Plan, with broad consensus reached through in-depth discussions.
